For me, the Walleye Weekend always signals the beginning of some of the best fishing of the season. Throughout northwest Iowa, the next six weeks is prime time for catching walleye, panfish, yellow bass, largemouth and smallmouth bass, northern pike and bullhead. So, yes, this is the perfect time to get the family together and go to your favorite fishing hole.
What is going to be most unusual on West Okoboji, East Okoboji and Big Spirit is the catchup game that the dock and hoist workers are faced with because of the late iceout.
