The Iowa Great Lakes Fishing Club (IGLFC) is sponsoring a fishing seminar opportunity for both IGLFC members and non-members alike on Wednesday, February 26 at the Hap Ketelsen Community Center in Everly.
According to IGLFC President Gary Biederman, Jason Mitchell host of the highly acclaimed outdoor program, Jason Mitchell Outdoors, which airs across the Midwest on Fox Sports North and Fox Sport Midwest channel, will be the featured speaker.
Biederman said, “The seminar is free for IGLFC members, while the cost for non-members will be $10. However, we will have family memberships for sale at the door that night for $20.”
Doors will open at 6 p.m. with the seminar beginning at 7 p.m. The club will be serving burgers and chips for a meal. Following the seminar, the IGLFC will raffle off a nice selection of fishing gear.
Mitchell said, “I am excited to get back to Iowa as I really enjoy the people, salt of the earth folks who love to hunt and fish!”
Even though Midwest lakes are still ice covered, walleye anglers will be heading to the Missouri River in South Dakota for early walleye action by the end of February.
Mitchell, who has earned a renowned reputation as a top walleye guide on North Dakota’s Devils Lake often guiding well over 250 days on the water and ice each season, is going to highlight tips and tactics for catching prairie lake walleyes. At the same time, Mitchell will go into detail discussing top locations and presentations.
A lot of northwest Iowa anglers head to South Dakota to fish top walleye lakes in the eastern and northeastern parts of the state. “Eastern South Dakota in particular offers some great walleye fishing opportunities on many of the natural glacial lakes, but the tactics I will share will also work on Spirit Lake and East and West Okoboji and other walleye fisheries in northern Iowa and southern Minnesota.”
Mitchell continued, “We have many viewers in Iowa, and we are going to make a point to spend more time in Iowa filming this upcoming season.”
Sponsors for the event include Northwest Bank, Farmers Trust and Savings Bank, State Bank (Spencer, Everly, Peterson) and Community State Bank.
