Hobo Stew

So traditionally everytime we go camping and especially on Memorial Weekend one thing we MUST make is our version of HOBO STEW! We have also tried this throughout the winter on our home stove but it never has tasted like the HOBO STEW over the fire pit.
We have put a lot of different items in our stew but this is what we have settled on as to what tastes the best and fits our family’s “tastebuds”. The kids enjoy helping and it gets hot enough over the fire that all “germs” are boiled off :)  Please remember that this recipe is a dump and add … no real measurements..
2 sticks of butter
8-9 potatoes cut in pieces
1 can of beer(preferably Miller Lite)
1 Large Can Cream of Mushroom soup
1 whole yellow onion sliced
6 corn on the cobs cut in half(don’t add these till about the last 15 minutes of cooking or they will get overdone and chewy)
1 package of brats thrown in whole
2 lbs of chicken breast tenders thrown in whole as well
1 green pepper sliced
1 lb of ground sausage broken into pieces
1 Can of Water(use your cream of mushroom can)

Dump all items in to a Dutch Oven and cook!  Again, hold on to the corn until the last 15 minutes to avoid getting overdone.  If you don’t have a Dutch Oven we have also done this in seperate foil packs (a little of this a little of that) wrapped super tight!
